Timken adds new smart machine solutions equipment company

Jackson TWP. -The Timken Company expanded its linear motion products business by acquiring Intelligent Machine Solutions, a small company located in Michigan.
The terms of the deal announced on Friday afternoon have not yet been announced. The company was founded in 2008 on the Norton Coast, Michigan. It has approximately 20 employees and reported revenue of $6 million in the 12 months ended June 30.
Intelligent Machine complements Rollon, an Italian company acquired by Timken in 2018. Rollon specializes in the production of linear guides, telescopic guides and linear actuators used in multiple industries.
Rollon products are used in mobile equipment, machinery and materials. The company serves a variety of markets, including railways, packaging and logistics, aerospace, construction and furniture, special vehicles and medical equipment.
Intelligent Machine designs and manufactures industrial robots and automation equipment. These equipment can be floor-standing, overhead, rotary or robot transfer units and gantry systems. This equipment is used by manufacturers in multiple industries to automate the production process.
In a press release announcing the deal, Timken stated that smart machines will enhance Rollon’s position in new and existing markets in robotics and automation, such as packaging, marine, aerospace, and automotive production plants.
Intelligent Machine is expected to help Rollon expand its operating footprint in the United States. According to a statement issued by Timken, expanding Rollon’s business in the United States is a key strategic goal of the company.
Rollon CEO Rüdiger Knevels stated in the press release that the addition of smart machines is based on Timken’s “mature engineering expertise in power transmission, which will allow us to compete more effectively and win in the heavy linear motion field. new business”.
Knevels said in a press release that the deal expands Rollon’s product line and creates new opportunities for the company in the global $700 million robotic conveyor industry, which is a growing field.
