The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) this week updated road construction projects in Barron, Burnett, Polk, Rusk, Sawyer, and Washburn counties.
Description: Complete the longline marking of the center line and the edge line, as well as the special marking of the text, arrow, stop line, diagonal line, curb and crosswalk.
Description: Replace two culverts and the asphalt pavement above them, and mark the pavement.
Traffic impact: The traffic in the project area is reduced to a single lane. Temporary traffic lights are used to coordinate traffic at intersections in County D.
Description: Re-paved WIS 46, by adding new lane markings and upgrading the traffic signal system at the intersection of Broadway East Street (County F), reducing the number of lanes in each direction to one, with a two-way left-turn lane in the middle and Birch Street in line Current standards and replace curb ramps throughout the project.
Traffic impact: WIS 46 is closed from Broadway Street East (County F) to Hyland Street; traffic is bypassing WIS 46, US 63 and US 8.
Traffic impact: Once the bridge is closed, drivers will use temporary bypass built by the contractor.
Description: Grind the entire width of the existing concrete pavement to a depth of 1 to 2 inches, repair the concrete joints with asphalt mixture, cover the pavement with 2.25 to 2.5 inches of asphalt, and upgrade the curb ramp to Americans with Disabilities Act standards , Turn West 5th Street North only right in/out from US 8, add a raised middle belt at the railroad crossing, upgrade the signage and lower the new sidewalk markings.
Traffic impact: WIS 40 is closed at the project site; traffic is bypassing US 8, WIS 27 and WIS 70.
Description: Rebuild the existing US 53/WIS 77 intersection into a J-turn, which reduces the conflict points that may cause collisions at the intersection by diverting left and passing traffic through the branch road.
Description: Rebuild US 53 from Mackey Road to the existing US 63, relocate US 63 to closely follow the existing Wild River State Trail, and build a new grade separation overpass, combining US 53 with the re-adjusted US 63 Connected, the new west frontage road runs from Mackey Road to County E and turns along US 53 at the existing intersection, including Mackey, O’Brien and Ross roads.
